The long-awaited 10.0.7 World of Warcraft: Dragonflight content update will arrive on March 21, and will bring about several exciting new features. ![]() In the single player scenarios, having a Hero die usually ends the scenario right there. It appears as if an old Warcraft 3 character will be introduced to Azeroth in the latest World of Warcraft: Dragonflight patch. ![]() It is very embarrassing to lose a first-level Hero early in the game to wandering monsters - and in fact, a failure of this magnitude is often an open invitation for other players to come in and attack you. Losing a Hero is a major blow, and in fact the game will announce a Hero's death to every player, telling them not only his name and what player he belonged to, but also his level. They are your most important units, because they are your toughest units, generally able to deal out the most damage. Think of Heroes as your field commanders or on-screen generals. Therefore Heroes are very unique, and very important. You don't build them in a base, you get them either as part of the storyline in a scenario, or (when playing multiplayer) at your Altar, each time you complete a stage of the town hall. Each one is unique, with a name, stats, and character model. Think of them as like characters in a roleplaying game. Heroes - Heroes are probably the most important new addition to Warcraft III. Because the number of units you can have is limited by the number of farms you make, having fewer peasants means you can support more warriors. Get these upgrades if you can, so that your peasants will become that much more efficient, and you won't need as many of them. Also, there are a couple of upgrades you can take in the Lumber Mill that will make your peasants harvest wood much more efficiently. Speaking of wood-chopping, you'll actually need less wood than you might think. If you see large groups of peasants milling about your gold mine, send some of them off to chop wood. The game won't let more of them use the mine efficiently, so any more is a waste of resources. Also with gold mines, try not to have more than five or six peasants working on a single mine at a time unless that mine is far away. Also, peasants making long trips with sacks full of gold are easy pickings for enemy units, so a short, safe route helps protect them and your gold supply.įor these reasons, you should never build another structure between your Town Hall and your gold mine. Peasants have to lug their gold from the mine to the Hall before you can use it, so any transit time is simply a waste. When you build your Town Hall, make sure it is as close to a gold mine as you can get it. Resource Gathering - You might think there's no strategy at all to handling your peasants, but actually that's not true. Using the keyboard, this can be done many seconds quicker than by using the mouse, and in a multiplayer game, every second counts in the beginning of the game. So for example to get Peasants to build a Barracks rapidly, you would hit F8 to find an idle peasant, then hit B to pull up his Build menu, then hit B again to make him build a Barracks. You'll also want to learn the keyboard shortcuts for some of the most commonly performed actions for your favorite units. So for example, if you had five riflemen and three knights with your hero in Group 1, and you wanted to select just the riflemen to target an enemy air unit, you would hit "1" first to select that group, then hit TAB to switch the emphasis from the Hero to the Riflemen.īackspace: Cycles through Town Halls this is handy if you have many gold mine expansions. ![]() TAB: This switches between subgroups within a Group. Note that you can have multiple groups - choose different guys and hit CTRL+2, CTRL+3, etc. Then, whenever you want to get back to this group, you only have to hit the "1" key again. Then set them as a Group by pressing the one key while holding down the control key. Use the mouse to lasso them so they're all highlighted. You will never have more than three Heroes in a typical multiplayer game, however.ĬTRL+1: This creates a "Group." First, gather everyone you want in a particular group together. Note that if you have more than one Hero, additional heroes are accessed using F2, F3, and so on, up through F7. Double-tap F1 quickly to center the view on him as well. Some of the more important advanced commands are listed below:į1: This switches the currently selected unit to your first Hero.
